Yoga class
At first glance yoga, origami, the Japanese language and juggling may have little in common but they are all being taught as part of the Period One curriculum. Four tutor groups in Year 11 have been sharing a little knowledge with their peers. Last week the students, comprising 11E, 11B, 11R and 11K learned how to count in Japanese – all together now: ichi, ni, san, shi, go. And this week they performed the ancient yoga move, Salutation to the Sun, a series of moves designed to get practitioners stretched and ready for the day. Follow-up tutorials will include origami and juggling. Each tutor group had to learn their own particular discipline and then share it with the other three tutor groups.
Teacher, Jo Millard said: 'The idea is to give the students a bit of responsibility for teaching and learning.'
