Sociology Course

Year 10 GCSE students considered what made people 'posh' during a recent lesson. Teacher, Miss Gonda sent sociology students around College to ask people a series of five questions. The answers were then collated and broken down into statistics. As well as finding answers to questions such as 'does your household own more than one car' and 'do you hide your loo roll under a decorative cover' the project gave students an idea of how to carry out research and compile date. They each have to do a piece of coursework on social issues and this gave an introduction of how to phrase questions and the importance of getting a random sample of people to take part.

Miss Gonda said: 'We've been studying lots of issues like feminism, families, culture, youth culture, socialisation and social groups. It's about finding your place in the world and how your beliefs are formed by what goes on around you.'
