Katie Parker with her trophy
Year 10 student, Katie Parker was voted top in Brooke Weston's recent talent contest and the audience were so impressed with her performance that she did an encore for students in assembly! Katie was among 14 acts who took part in the BW Factor talent show where students performed before a panel of judges.
Katie was presented with a trophy in assembly before reprising her four minute rendition of Corinne Bailey Rae's 'Like A Star'. Lyn Jynson of Year 7 gained second place for her singing. Third equal placings were shared by sisters Amy and Jodie Midlane and Lauren Butler who played the piano and sang. For Amy and Jodie it was a chance to practice the dance routine that they will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in May, along with other students from Brooke Weston.
The judges comprised Miss Cole and Mr Duguid from the Music Department, Mr Kevin Munton from Parents in Partnership, Howard and Sara Charles from Genesis Theatre Group and Jane Tyler from the Jane Tyler School of Dance.
The event, organised by Parents in Partnership and Mr Gerry Witt raised funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Fund. Thanks go to all who made the show such a success, including the participants, those who helped behind the scenes and particularly the technical support given by Mr Peter Jackson and student Edward Winsall.
