Ivan Chan
IT support technician, Ivan Chan, has gained his Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) qualification after studying at night school. The course explained the intricacies of the Microsoft XP operating system and culminated in a two and a half hour exam.
Ivan hopes to do further study in the accredited series to gain the MCSA and MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer) accreditations some time in the future.
Ivan, who has worked at the College for more than six years said; 'As the College uses this operating system on a day-to-day basis I was familiar with most of the coursework but there were still a few bits of information that I picked up.' That should prove invaluable as Ivan's job consists of troubleshooting and daily ongoing maintenance of the College's computer system.
The course, which ran for three nights a week over five weeks was funded by Brooke Weston. Vice Principal, Stuart Williams said: 'This is a fantastic achievement, particularly as Ivan undertook the study in his own time.'
