Year 8s in Boulogne
Year eight students brushed up their French skills during an overnight trip to Boulogne. Highlights included a beach picnic, a visit to the sea life centre and the chance to meet pen pals in a French school.
Staff and students made a pre-dawn start and travelled via the Channel Tunnel. First stop was a French secondary school where many of our 50 students met their pen pals which they'd made during a school link-up. Those without pen-pals soon made some in a spirit of entente cordiale.
Later students took part in a general knowledge quiz, arranged by Mrs Heppell before spending the night at a youth hostel. The next day comprised spending sprees to Boulogne market a hypermarket, a tour of the sea life centre and a beach picnic and football.
As if that wasn't enough excitement the Brooke Weston party got back home in time for the nail-biting England/France Rugby World Cup semi-final, which England won 14 - 9.
Teacher, Mrs Leuchars said; 'It was quite an intensive couple of days but very successful; with students having the chance to see a bit of French life and speak the language in real-life settings.'
