The music department have produced several 'stunning' performances featuring drums, voices and a bit of French inspiration. The arrival of a set of samba drums meant that the Weston Theatre resounded with tribal rhythms as students got their hands on them for the first time. As there are 30 drums in the set, it means that larger groups of musicians can all use them, with total beginners using the bigger ones to create a heavier beat while the more accomplished drummers create complicated rhythms.

Mr Duguid said; 'At the moment we are trying them out with Year 8 and 9 students, but hopefully we might get some of the incoming Year 7s to try them out. It's a really effective way of making music as a group and sounds really good. '

The College choir also put on a great show when they joined the Boston Youth Pop choir for a joint concert in Lincolnshire. Our school choir was applauded as on a par with the Boston choir which boasts the best singers and musicians in the county. Such was the success that the choir repeated their performance of The Carpenter's 'Please Mr Postman' and a quartet sung the haunting 'Angels' by Sarah McLaughlin with piano accompaniment. Principal, Trish Stringer praised the choir and said they had 'produced a stunning performance' and were a credit to the College.

Finally College musicians took part in the Bastille Day at Wicksteed Park. Hndreds of schoolchildren from all over the county descended on the park for a day of Gallic-inspired fun and the Brooke Weston brass band managed to inject a little extra sparkled into the proceedings.
