Financial Information
Brooke Weston College Account
Students' accounts enable parents and students to purchase items from the College. All of these items will appear on the statement sent to you at the end of each term.
Items charged for:
- Sports uniform
- Calculators
- Text books
- Tutor trips
- Residential trips
- Replacement smart cards
- Ties
- Transport
If parents have not elected to settle the account by standing order, cheques may be paid into the finance and general office by students or sent in by post. Cheques should be made payable to:

Please supply the following information on the back of the cheque:
- Student's ID Number
- Student's Name
- Description of payment e.g. trip deposit, account payment
Accounts should be settled within 14 days.
If you have any queries, please notify the finance and general office immediately so they may be resolved as quickly as possible.
Finance and General Office
Students are able to make payments to their Brooke Weston or Compact Catering accounts at the following times:

The finance and general office is open for any parental enquiries from 8.15 am until 4.45 pm daily. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require information on any College financial matters.
Financial Assistance
The College is able to offer financial assistance to those students whose parents or guardians are in receipt of certain benefits. The use of the smart card system for meals ensures total confidentiality for those students receiving meal credits.
The type of assistance available to parents who receive Income Support and Job Seekers Allowance is as follows:
- Transport
- Meals
- Breakfast and lunch credits amounting to £2.80 daily (Please note that any unused credits are removed from the account daily)
Residential Trips
A credit towards the cost of residential trips may be available in certain circumstances and parents should contact the finance and general office for details.
Uniform
A credit of £10.00 will be made to the student's account towards the cost of trousers, shirt etc. upon production of the appropriate receipt to the finance and general office.
Sports Uniform
The following items of sportswear will be supplied by the College:

The initial period of assistance is granted for three months. At the end of this period, you will need to contact the finance and general office and will be asked to provide further confirmation that you are still in receipt of benefits should you wish to continue with your claim.
Student Meals
The College catering is currently provided by Compact Catering, a local company based in Market Harborough. Students are able to purchase meals using their smart card. Each card is individual to the student and contains a memory chip that enables payments to be recorded and credited to the account and for the cost of meals to be deducted from it. Students are able to credit their smart card for meal purchases at the finance and general office and may do so using cash or a cheque made payable to:
Compact CateringMinimum payment acceptable is £5.00.
A variety of meals for both breakfast and lunch are available from the College restaurant or coffee lounge. There is a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts and cooked breakfasts available in the morning and salads, sandwiches and filled rolls and a choice of hot meals for lunch. Menus and price lists giving examples of the cost of meals and snacks available are on display in the restaurant.
Those students who wish to bring their own packed lunch are also able to use the restaurant and coffee lounge.
The price list below is an example of the cost of meals as at January 2007:

The examples given may be subject to price increases during each academic year.
An emergency meal voucher is available from the finance and general office which provides sandwiches and a drink should a student lose or forget their card. The value of the voucher is applied to students' accounts and students are asked to bring their cards to finance the next day to enable their cards to be debited with the outstanding amount.
Free School Meals
In line with recent clarification of the DfES Eligibility Criteria for Free Meals, the College will provide free meals to those students whose parents are in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
- Child Tax Credit – provided they do not also receive Working Tax Credit and that they have an annual income, as assessed by the Inland Revenue, that does not exceed £14,155 as of April 6th 2006.
- Incapacity Benefit or Pension Credit provided that they do not receive Working Tax Credit but are in receipt of Child Tax Credits and have an annual income, as assessed by the Inland Revenue, that does not exceed £14,155 as of April 6th 2006.
Breakfast and lunch credits amounting to £2.80 will be credited daily to the student's account at the first transaction of the day in the restaurant or the coffee lounge, (please note that any unused credits are removed from the account daily).
Should your child require extras, such as fizzy drinks, extra dessert, etc. over and above the credit issued, then you will need to ensure that extra payment is made to their card.
The initial period of assistance is granted for three months. At the end of this period you will be contacted by the finance and general office and asked to provide further confirmation that you are still in receipt of benefits should you wish to continue with your claim.
The College reserves the right to reclaim any College benefits that are overpaid as a result of any financial misinformation received.
